Vang is an Associate Professor of Sociology and William Dawson Scho lar at ɬÀï·¬\, and Associate Investigator of the Research Institute of th e ɬÀï·¬ Health Centre (RI-MUHC). Reflecting her interdisciplin ary scholarship\, Dr. Vang is also an Associate Member of the Department o f Obstetrics and Gynecology\, the Division of Social & Transcultural Psych iatry\, and the Institute for Health & Social Policy at ɬÀï·¬.  She is the founding Director of the Indigenous Maternal Infant Health & W ellbeing (IMIHW) Lab where she has been working in partnership with Indige nous communities in Quebec on projects related to perinatal health\, cultu ral safety\, and racism/discrimination as social determinants of women’s h ealth and wellness. Her research in the area of immigrant and refugee peri natal health explores the impact of gender inequality\, race/ethnicity\, a nd pre-migration factors (e.g.\, exposure to trauma) on post-migration mat ernal and infant morbidity and mortality. Dr. Vang’s other research intere sts include the international migration\, race/ethnic relations\, the heal thy immigrant effect\, and racism/discrimination as social determinants of health. Trained as a mixed-method researcher\, Dr. Vang uses both qualita tive and quantitative methodologies\, and participatory research approache s when appropriate\, in her studies.  \n\nMONTHLY SUBSTANTIVE WEBINARS\n\n This webinar is part of our monthly LUNCH&LEARN series on population aging topics across all four CAnD3 axes.
