Vederas at the University of Alberta (Edmonton\, Canada)\, she studied the biosynthesis of the chol esterol-lowering drug lovastatin (Mevacor). Amongst her thesis achievement s\, she reported the first purified natural Diels-Alderase. Next\, she mov ed to the University of California at San Francisco (USA) to pursue post-d octoral studies with Prof. P. R. Ortiz de Montellano (1999-2001). Her rese arch results contributed to the mechanistic understanding of heme oxygenas es and P450 enzymes. In 2002\, she started her independent career as an As sistant Professor of Chemistry at ɬ﷬ (Montreal\, Canada). S he was promoted Associate Professor of Chemistry with tenure in 2006\, and Full Professor in 2016. She was a Visiting Scientist at Boehringer Ingelh eim (Laval\, Canada) in 2010. Her current research at ɬ﷬ three researc h areas: 1) antibiotic resistance\; 2) enzymology (especially P450 enzymes )\; and 3) biocatalysis (including solvent-free mechanoenzymatic reactions ). Some of her key contributions include new antibiotic resistance inhibit ors\, new antibacterial agents\, new insights into enzyme allostery\, the first molecules able to resensitize bacteria to the host immune defense it aconate\, and the development of a process for solvent-free degradation of biomass. Recent awards that she has received include the ɬ﷬ Leo Yaffe Award for excellence in teaching and the ɬ﷬ Fessenden Professorship. \n\nScientific contributions: Karine Auclair has published more >70 peer-r eviewed scientific articles and 1 copyright. She is also a co-inventor on 6 patents. The majority of her publications are in high-impact scientific journals\, such as: Science (34.4)\, Nature Chem. Biol. (13.2)\, Nature St ruct. Mol. Biol. Her work focuses on early mod ern polyphonic music\, with a focus on the motet\, historical improvisatio n\, compositional process\, and digital humanities. She was the Interim De an of the Schulich School of Music in 2016-2017\, Director of Graduate Stu dies (2001-2003 and 2009-2010)\, and Associate Dean of Research and Admini stration (2011-2016). Lydi a White is internationally recognized as a leading scholar in the field of generative second language acquisition. For many years\, her research has been funded by major grants from SSHRCC and FRQSC. She has published more than 130 scholarly articles and is the author of two acclaimed textbooks that have influenced the training of researchers world-wide. This research activity has resulted in ov er 200 journal articles\, 70 book chapters\, and editing/co-editing of 10 books. He conceived and has been co-Editor of both editions of the Handboo k of Andrology. He has mentored many graduate students (275 PhDs\, 10 MSc) and over 20 Postdoctoral Fellows\, most of whom have gone on to have succ essful careers in academia\, industry and government. His team’s work has been funded by the CIHR/MRC continuously since he opened his lab as well a s by the NIH\, March of Dimes\, FRQNT\, FRQS\, and the private sector.
