  Fischer received her PhD from the University of California at Santa Cruz\
 , and became professor at Yale University in 2009. She works on the detect
 ion and characterization of planets around other stars. She participated i
 n the discovery of the first multiple-planet system.\nThe lecture will be 
 held on Thursday\, March 12th\, at 6:30pm\, in room 522 of the McIntyre Me
