Schulich School of Music scores highly in 2026 QS World University Rankings

The Schulich School of Music of ɬÀï·¬ has retained its position as the top music and performing arts institution in Canada, according to the QS World University Rankings, released on March 25, 2026.

The School rose several places this year when compared against institutions within North America and globally. It now ranks third for music and fourth for performing arts in North America and has risen to 13th for music and 15th for performing arts worldwide. Once again, ɬÀï·¬ is the only Canadian university to appear in the Top 20 for these disciplines.

The QS Rankings assessed over 1,900 universities this year and take a range of factors into account, including academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact, in evaluating how the world’s top educational institutions fare across 55 subjects.

The Schulich School of Music (SSoM) is home to more than 870 students, who are drawn here by over 200 faculty members, numerous ensembles, and a rich legacy that inspires excellence. The SSoM offers 50 different programs in research and performance and puts on over 600 concerts and events annually. We are known for programs in orchestra, opera, jazz, early music, and contemporary music. Our leadership in sound recording and music technology provides unique possibilities for collaboration with the larger musical community.
