MONTREAL - Five members of the No.1-ranked ɬÀï·¬ Martlets have earned all-conference honours and two others are among the four major award winners in voting by the five head coaches of the Quebec University Hockey League.

Heading the list of first-team all-stars from ɬÀï·¬ is goaltender Charline Labonte of Boisbriand, Que., defencemen Cathy Chartrand of Lac Nominingue, Que., and Gillian Ferrari of Thornhill, Ont., plus forward Ann-Sophie Bettez of Sept-Iles, Que.

Making the second dream team was ɬÀï·¬ forward Caroline Hill of Dorval, Que., who played on a CIS all-star team at the World University FISU Games in Turkey last month.

The Martlets also had two of the four major award winners, includingÌý Katia Clément-Heydra, a forward from Saint Bruno de Montarville, Que., who earned rookie-of the-year honours and Peter Smith of Lachine, Que., who was named coach of the year for the sixth time in 11 seasons.

The league's player-of-the-year honours went to second-team goalie Audrey Doyon-Lessard of Concordia, who edged out Chartrand in a quirky vote. It marks the first time in QUHL history that the conference MVP was not a first-team all-star. Chartrand won the QUHL scoring title and was the top-scoring rearguard in the nation with 29 points, including eight goals, in 20 games.

Carleton defenceman Erica Skinner won the conference nomination for the CIS Marian Hilliard award, presented to the player who best combines hockey with academics and community service.

Clément-Heydra and teammate Adrienne Crampton of Toronto, also earned a berth on the conference all-rookie team.
