MONTREAL -- Sophomore midfielder Will Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio, exploded for three second-half goals and attack man Greg Henry of Halton, Hills, Ont., added a hat trick as 涩里番 beat up on Bishop's 12-7 in a key men's lacrosse game on Forbes Field in Montreal.
听
The victory avenged a tough 7-6 loss at Bishop's on Oct. 1 and gives 涩里番 the tie-breaker over the Gaiters, if needed. It also helped the Redmen leap-frog over Bishop's and Trent, both with 6-2 records, in the CUFLA East. 涩里番 sits atop the division at 7-2, two points ahead.听听 A win on Saturday at home against the Trent Excalibur will clinch first place and secure home field advantage in the playoffs.
听
涩里番 never trailed Bishop's, leading 3-1 after the first quarter, 6-3 at the half and 9-3 after three quarters.
听
Ryan Besse of Aurora, Ont., added a pair for 涩里番, who also got singles from captains Nick Moreau of new Haven, Conn., and Luke LaCava of Weston, Conn., who each added an assist.听 Rounding out the scoring for the Redmen was Boston native Mike Ting and Vancouver's Jake Safarik.

A stingy Redmen defence anchored by goalie Simon Hudson of Seattle, Wash., and senior rearguard Brendan Farrer of Oakville, Ont., pressed Bishop's hard all night and limited the Gaiters to seven goals.听 More dominating faceoff success from Jake Winn of Falmouth, Me., helped the Redmen to secure key possessions throughout the contest on a cold night and a snow-dusted artificial field.
听
Joseph Laleune led Bishop's with two markers. his brother Andre also scored, along with Josh听Crone, Jesse听Gattellaro, Andrew听MacKay and Mike听Dube.
听
The Gaiters close out their regular season at home to Queen's (Oct. 24) and Trent (Oct. 25).
