Professors Richard King and Stephen McAdams Honoured with ɬ�﷬’s Top Awards

Professors Richard King and Stephen McAdams of the Schulich School of Music have been awarded two of ɬ�﷬’s most prestigious internal research distinctions: the James ɬ�﷬ Professor (JMP) and Distinguished James ɬ�﷬ Professor (DJMP) awards, respectively.

Schulich Alumni Compete at the 2025 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition

The Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, held every three years, is one of the world’s most prestigious platforms for young musicians aspiring to make their mark on the global stage. Formerly the ‘International String Quartet Competition’, the first award was presented in 1979 in Portsmouth, but Wigmore Hall, London has been home to the competition since 2010.

On Sunday, March 2, 2025 Ziggy Harris, baritone; Yiran Xing, tenor; Odile Portugais, soprano and Kate Fogg, soprano competed, and the jury named Kate Fogg as the winner of the 2024-2025 Wirth Vocal Prize.

2024-2025 Wirth Vocal Prize Semi-Finalists

The Wirth Vocal Prize in vocal performance was established in 2015 through the extraordinary generosity of Elizabeth Wirth to the Schulich School of Music of ɬ�﷬, along with new Student Excellence Awards, and an innovative Student Initiatives Fund. Awarded yearly since its inception, the Wirth Vocal Prize recognizes a voice student who demonstrates exceptional talent and significant promise for an international career.

The QS Rankings spotlight the world's leading universities across 42 subjects, evaluating academic reputation, employer reputation, and research impact. This year’s edition is the most comprehensive yet, featuring over 1,500 universities from 105 higher education systems.

On Sunday, February 2, 2025, the 28th Annual Prix Opus and 67th Grammy Awards were held. Congratulations to all the nominees!

The Prix Opus was created in 1996 by the Conseil québécois de la musique (CQM) to highlight the excellence, vitality, and diversity of Québec’s thriving music scene and to celebrate artists within the community. The awards highlight outstanding achievements in concert music, compositions, productions, and recordings.
