Researchers from the <a href="https://chime-experiment.ca/">Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment</a> (CHIME)/Fast Radio Bursts Collaboration, including ɬ﷬ and MIT, have developed a new method to seek out this “missing” matter by combining galaxy locations with fast radio burst detections. A fast radio burst, or FRB, is an ultrabright, millisecond flash of radio waves emitted by extremely energetic phenomena in the distant universe.</p></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-primary-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img class="no-float" src="/channels/files/channels/styles/wysiwyg_medium/public/channels/image/gettyimages-1170047942.jpg?itok=pavy2YWQ" width="160" height="107" alt="" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datestamp field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><div class="custom-multi-date"><div class="multi-date first"><span class="label">Published: </span><span class="day">21 </span><span class="month">July </span><span class="year">2026</span></div></div></div></div></div> Tue, 21 Jul 2026 18:06:14 +0000 webfull 218963 at /channels ɬ﷬ researchers receive $14 million in SSHRC funding for 62 projects focusing on societal challenges /channels/channels/news/mcgill-researchers-receive-14-million-sshrc-funding-62-projects-focusing-societal-challenges-373582 <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p><strong>Topics include youth agency through video games and entrepreneurship education in India.</strong></p></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-primary-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img class="no-float" src="/channels/files/channels/styles/wysiwyg_medium/public/channels/image/reporter-hero-4-profs.jpg?itok=cOCH8Njw" width="160" height="102" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datestamp field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><div class="custom-multi-date"><div class="multi-date first"><span class="label">Published: </span><span class="day">21 </span><span class="month">July </span><span class="year">2026</span></div></div></div></div></div> Tue, 21 Jul 2026 17:08:07 +0000 webfull 218959 at /channels AeroCellutions wins second place at the 2026 Biodesign Challenge Summit /channels/channels/news/aerocellutions-wins-second-place-2026-biodesign-challenge-summit-373517 <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><p><em>Image from left to right: Emma Louie, Olivia Cozariuc, Meenakshi Pillai, Carolyn Denton, Emmett Olthuis, Anisa Hashemi, Liberté Vaudandaine, Samathar Senso, Mannat Chandok, Emma Bryson.</em></p></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-primary-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><img class="no-float" src="/channels/files/channels/styles/wysiwyg_medium/public/channels/image/aerocellutionscover.png?itok=JfCOaRfB" width="160" height="84" alt="" /></div></div></div><div class="field field-name-field-published-date field-type-datestamp field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><div class="custom-multi-date"><div class="multi-date first"><span class="label">Published: </span><span class="day">14 </span><span class="month">July </span><span class="year">2026</span></div></div></div></div></div> Tue, 14 Jul 2026 14:15:01 +0000 webfull 218875 at /channels Unusual calcite formation discovered at the site of ɬ﷬ Sustainability Park /channels/channels/news/unusual-calcite-formation-discovered-site-mcgill-sustainability-park-373515 <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><h2><em>ɬ﷬’s Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences is now studying it as part of research about the Island of Montreal</em></h2> <p>A rock featuring a white calcite vein in a rare ‘petal’ formation has been extracted from the construction site of the future ɬ﷬ Sustainability Park.</p> <p>Attached to a chunk of grey stone, the full rock is the approximate size of a microwave.
