DESCRIPTION:Since 1989\, under the amended Labour Code\, labour contractual
 ization has become rampant among business and industrial enterprises in th
 e country. In Quebec\, thousands of non-status migrants\, refugee claimant
 s\, and racialized new immigrants turn to temporary placement agencies whe
 re work is readily available. Unfortunately\, they experience low wages\, 
 little to no benefits\, very few protections and no job security.\n\nJoin 
 us for a panel discussion aiming to situate the current struggle against p
 recarious labour in the Philippines and Quebec\, which will follow a mini-
 documentary on labour contractualization in the Philippines\, panelists wi
 ll discuss the struggle against precarious work.\n\nPanelists:\n\n- Profes
 sor Adelle Blackett - a former official of the ILO in Geneva\, director of
  the Labour Law and Development Research Laboratory.\n	- Joey Calugay - a c
 ommunity organizer from Centre for Philippines Concerns and Immigrant Work
 ers Centre.\n	- Viviana Carol - a former temporary agency worker and now a 
 community organizer of Temporary Agency Workers Association.\n\nThis event
