DESCRIPTION:The Canada Council for the Arts is coordinating visits to\nuniv
 ersities to provide information and advice on the Killam\nProgram\, which 
 includes both the Killam Research Fellowship and the\nKillam Prizes.  Rese
 archers who anticipate submitting an\napplication to the 2011 Killam Resea
 rch Fellowship competition (May\n2010) are strongly encouraged to attend t
 his meeting.\nPotential nominators and/or nominees for the 2011 Killam Pri
 zes\n(June 2010) are also encouraged to attend\nPeter Morand\, a former NS
 ERC President (1990-1995) and currently\na Special Advisor to the Canada C
 ouncil for the Arts for the Killam\nProgram\, will give a general presenta
 tion on the Killam Program.\nThe presentation will include historical and 
 statistical\ninformation\, explanations on eligibility and application\nre
 quirements\, tips on how to improve one's application and\ninformation on 
 the electronic filing process. The presentation will\nbe followed by a gen
 eral question period. Dr. Morand will also be\navailable\, after the prese
 ntation (between 11:30\nand 12:30) to meet with researchers on a one-on-on
 e basis.\nThe Canada Council Killam Research Fellowship Program is\ndesign
 ed to recognize and support distinguished Canadian scholars\,\nnormally fu
 ll professors at Canadian universities and research\ninstitutes\, who have
  established an outstanding reputation in their\narea of research. Killam 
 Research Fellowships are offered on a\ncompetitive basis to support resear
 chers in any of the following\nfields: humanities\; social sciences\; natu
 ral sciences\; health\nsciences\; engineering or studies linking any of th
 e disciplines\nwithin these fields. Killam Research Fellowships are valued
  at\n$70\,000 per year. They are 'release time' fellowships\,\nwhich provi
 de two years of full release from teaching and\nadministrative duties.\nKI
 LLAM PRIZES: Up to five\nprizes of $100\,000 each are given annually to em
 inent Canadian\nscholars in recognition of distinguished career achievemen
 t in the\nnatural sciences\, health sciences\, engineering\, social scienc
 es and\nhumanities respectively. Nominees must be Canadian\ncitizens.\nPle
