DESCRIPTION:More than forty years after having recognized the urgency of a
 \nstudy on the working conditions of domestic workers\, the\nInternational
  Labour Organization (ILO) is on track to adopt an\ninternational labour s
 tandard on decent work for domestic workers\nbefore the end of 2011.\nCons
 ult the \nILO's 2009 report [.pdf]\, for an account of the situation and\n
 working conditions of domestic workers across the world.\nThis internation
 al seminar aims to bring together social\npartners\, including domestic wo
 rkers' associations\, and\ninternational and interdisciplinary researchers
  specialized in the\nfield in order to encourage an intensive consultation
  between the\nvarious participants concerned by the issue of decent work f
 or\ndomestic workers.\nThis meeting will also present an opportunity for e
 xchange\nbetween researchers and social partners to identify the policy\ni
 ssues involved and to compare different regulatory approaches\nadopted in 
 various countries. Furthermore\, the seminar seeks to\nprovide an opportun
 ity for social partners to share their\nreflections on the presentations a
 nd their expertise in the area\nbefore the two upcoming sessions of the In
 ternational Labour\nConference in Geneva in June 2010 and 2011.\nFinally\,
  this activity offers a chance for Canada to celebrate\nthe 90 years since
  the ILO was established in 1919.  To that\nend\, a special exhibit commem
 orating the time during which Montreal\nwas host to the ILO during the Sec
 ond World War will be presented\nin the Atrium of ɬÀï·¬'s Facu
