ɬ�﷬ Chemistry Department shares the news of the passing of Prof. Rudy Marcus, CALTECH Professor and Nobel Laureate. A Montrealer and alumnus of our Chemistry Department at ɬ�﷬, where he conducted his undergraduate and graduate studies, his work over decades was inspirational to many generations of chemists worldwide. A brilliant, most humble colleague that brought understanding to the most fundamental chemical reaction, the electron transfer, among many other systems he worked on. He will be greatly missed.

In Memoriam: Dr. Gert Morgenstern (1933–2026)

It is with sadness that we mark the passing of Dr. Gert Morgenstern, who died peacefully in Montreal on July 9, 2026, at the age of 92.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Morgenstern provided dedicated and compassionate care to patients and families at both the Douglas Institute and the Montreal Children’s Hospital. He was also a valued member of the ɬ�﷬ community, where he made significant contributions as a teacher and mentor, helping to shape generations of learners.
