Among the many challenges are limited diagnostic tools that can be deploye d at the point of care in underresourced environments. Indeed\, the most w idely used test for diagnosing a tuberculosis infection in low resource se ttings was developed 100 years ago\, and there have been few improvements in the last century. This presentation will focus on our recent work deplo ying metabolic labeling and chemical tools for improved tuberculosis diagn ostics at the point of care.\n\nBio:\n\nCarolyn Bertozzi is the Anne T. an d Robert M. Bass Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Chemical & System s Biology and Radiology (by courtesy) at Stanford University\, and an Inve stigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. She completed her undergr aduate degree in Chemistry from Harvard University in 1988 and her Ph.D. i n Chemistry from UC Berkeley in 1993. After completing postdoctoral work a t UCSF in the field of cellular immunology\, she joined the UC Berkeley fa culty in 1996. In June 2015\, she joined the faculty at Stanford Universit y coincident with the launch of Stanford's ChEM-H institute.\n\nProf. Bert ozzi's research interests span the disciplines of chemistry and biology wi th an emphasis on studies of cell surface glycosylation pertinent to disea se states. Her lab focuses on profiling changes in cell surface glycosylat ion associated with cancer\, inflammation and bacterial infection\, and ex ploiting this information for development of diagnostic and therapeutic ap proaches\, most recently in the area of immuno-oncology. She has been reco gnized with many honors and awards for her research accomplishments. She i s an elected member of the Institute of Medicine\, National Academy of Sci ences\, and American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She has been awarded th e Lemelson-MIT Prize\, the Heinrich Wieland Prize\, and a MacArthur Founda tion Fellowship\, among many others.\n DTSTART:20181210T180000Z DTEND:20181210T193000Z LOCATION:Room 10\, Maass Chemistry Building\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B8\ , 801 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:The 2018/2019 J.T.
