We sho w that advertising and goodwill play an important role in the Veblen effec t. By employing optimal control theory\, we capture the evolution of the v ariables over time which may exhibit the Veblen effect where price and dem and move in the same direction. Incorporating this dynamics into firms' de cisions has a promising impact on long-term profit. Consequently\, it may even trigger a slew of studies on product line extension\, competition and pricing by allowing firms to control their status.\n\n DTSTART:20210211T160000Z DTEND:20210211T170000Z LOCATION:CA\, ZOOM SUMMARY:Advertising\, goodwill\, and the Veblen effect URL:/cim/channels/event/advertising-goodwill-and-veble n-effect-328520 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
