Biography: 

Derek Tannis joined the School of Continuing Studies in October 2021, as Assistant Professor in the Administration and Governance domain, and as the school’s inaugural Associate Dean, Student Success and Enrolment Management.

Derek is a senior leader in the field of higher education administration, with proven expertise in organizational change management, strategic planning, strategic enrolment management, and inclusive policy development and implementation. He has over 25 years experience in teaching, research, instructional and curriculum design, international development, and administration and leadership.

He has published work on the topics of international education services and risk management, and reconciliation and inclusion in higher education policy and practice. He has provided training and workshops in inclusive practice and assessment in student services and affairs.

Derek has worked in university and polytechnic institutions in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. He has led multi-disciplinary teams that serve diverse student populations, locally, nationally and internationally, and is a collaborative leader in reconciliation-in-practice in the public service sector.
