I explore the effects of a locally construc ted\, cultural intervention called Dream-A-World (DAW) for children living in Kingston's inner-city neighborhoods. The DAW program was developed to foster resilience in children by using 'culture' as an instrument for educ ation\, consciousness-raising\, and in challenging notions of race and ine qualities in a postcolonial context. My interest lies in understanding how this intervention structures children's subjective and emotional experien ces\, shaping the social and psychological landscape of their everyday liv es. The study explores the ways in which historical\, political and episte mic structures create complex intersections between hierarchies of race\, class\, gender and sexuality that contribute to the contemporary subjectiv ities of these children.\n\nFor more information on CRCF's research semina rs\, please click here.\n DTSTART:20170111T170000Z DTEND:20170111T180000Z LOCATION:Wendy Patrick room (room 118)\, Wilson Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2A7\, 3506 rue University SUMMARY:Research Seminar - Everyday violence\, cultural therapy\, and the p olitics of childhood among inner-city children in Kingston\, Jamaica URL:/crcf/channels/event/research-seminar-everyday-vio lence-cultural-therapy-and-politics-childhood-among-inner-city-children-26 4603 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
