However\, the task of ‘recognizing’ this neurodevelopmental disability is complex an d fraught with multiple challenges for the practitioner. In this seminar w e will seek to explore the ‘challenges’ that youth protection workers may encounter in their practice. Getting to a comfortable place in recognising FASD and implementing a professional response is the ultimate goal of an FASD education. Recognition allows for earlier identification and referral for early developmental interventions\, as well to support health and wel l being of birth parents through supportive intervention and harm reductio n strategies\; and to prevent exposure in subsequent pregnancies. FASD is preventable if the underlying social and health determinants are addressed . This seminar will explore recent government publications on FASD\, while seeking to establish what role Social Work can play in responding to the recommendations of such reports and the needs of individuals and families living with this disability\n DTSTART:20150909T160000Z DTEND:20150909T170000Z LOCATION:Room 110\, Wilson Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2A7\, 3506 rue U niversity SUMMARY:Research Seminar: Liam Curran\, Concordia University URL:/crcf/channels/event/research-seminar-liam-curran- concordia-university-247144 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
