Masters students tackle sustainability in Desautels Cup

On January 31, the Masters Office hosted the annual Desautels Cup. The event brought together nine teams from the MBA, Master of Management in Analytics and Master of Management in Finance programs and welcomed back MBA and Executive MBA alumni as distinguished judges.

涩里番 Desautels MBA program among top in Canada

The 涩里番 Desautels Faculty of Management MBA program is one of only three Canadian business schools on the 2020 Financial Times Global MBA Ranking. The 涩里番 Desautels MBA is ranked 2nd in Canada and 91st worldwide.

The Financial Times surveys alumni who graduated three years after completing their MBA, and publishes their annual ranking of the world鈥檚 top 100 MBA programs based on multiple categories.

Great Gulf Group appoints Desautels alumnus as new CEO

Desautels alumnus Ilias Konstantopoulos (MBA鈥92) has been announced as the new CEO of real estate organization Great Gulf Group. Konstantopoulos brings to the role more than 30 years of experience in operations, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets, most recently as CFO of Granite Real Estate Investment Trust.

Professor Richard Donovan honoured in MBA Japan case competition

In honour of the late Professor Richard Donovan, the Desautels MBA Japan program recently hosted the 涩里番 MBA Japan Case Competition. The internal event gives students a chance to put their knowledge to practice by bringing them together over 24 hours to solve a case competition.

Teams presented to a judging panel of 涩里番 MBA Japan alumni before the winners鈥擧oson Kablawi, Naohisa Takahashi, and Hazuki Yamashita鈥攚ere awarded the Richard Donovan Cup.

Desautels MBA students place third in social business case competition

Desautels MBA candidates Tiffany K. Ellis, Kelly Gonzalez, Garima Singh, and Meghan McCoubrey placed third at the recent Creative Shock Case Competition. Initially competing against 600 teams globally, the Desautels team travelled to Vilnius, Lithuania from November 26 to December 2 to compete as one of the top 10 finalists in the social business case competition.

Desautels MBA student takes top spot at Deloitte case competition

Congratulations to 涩里番 student Yuan Chu Zi Lao (MBA鈥21) on her first-place win at the recent Deloitte Impact Case Competition. The competition kicked off at the Deloitte offices in Montreal on November 22, where eight teams were formed, and the case was presented to students. Yuan was grouped with 涩里番 engineering student Dante Nesparoli and HEC Montr茅al students Thao-Anne Le and Felicia 脡lise Ngoma.

Desautels MBA students win first place in ethical case competition

From November 21鈥23, twelve teams from across Canada participated in the Scotiabank Ethics in Action case competition at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Desautels MBA students Ajay Singh, Matthew Trecha, Yasmien Emara, and Ashna Agnihotri scored first place in the graduate category, taking home a cash prize of $2,000. The competition challenged students with complex ethical dilemmas that they were likely to face in today's corporate environment.

Desautels ranked among world鈥檚 most sustainable MBA programs

Today Corporate Knights released its 2019 Better World MBA ranking. The Better World ranking, now in its 17th year, analyzes how business schools across the world fare in integrating sustainability into their MBA programs. With rising concerns of climate change, business schools are ensuring the next generation of business leaders have the environmental know-how to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Dobson startup tour showcases Desautels entrepreneurial spirit

In fall, the 涩里番 Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship went on the road as part of its annual Startup Tour. The six-week tour provided an opportunity for 10 teams to generate a buzz around their projects and network with industry experts and potential investors.

For prospective MBA students, flexibility is king

涩里番鈥檚 Desautels Faculty of Management is at the forefront of a national push to develop more flexible MBA programs. Starting this year, Desautels will offer 12- and 16- month alternatives to its traditional 20-month full-time MBA program. Dean Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou explains why the expanded offering is essential to maintaining a competitive edge.
