The theme of the inaugural compet ition is “Artificial Intelligence: New Ethical Challenges for Business Pro fessionals.” No knowledge of artificial intelligence is required to partic ipate. A reception will be held in the evening on Thursday\, March 30\, to welcome participants and kick-start the event. The deadline to apply is F riday\, January 27\, 2023. \n\nThe main objectives of the competition are to:\n\n\n increase students’ awareness of the importance of ethical decisio ns in business with an emphasis on accounting\;\n expose students to real-w orld scenarios that they may encounter in their future careers\;\n provide students with the opportunity to enhance their critical thinking and prese ntation skills at the intersection of business ethics and contemporary acc ounting issues.\n\n\nWorking in teams of two to four students\, participan ts will analyze a thought-provoking case and present their solutions in fr ont of a panel of judges. The number of student teams will be capped at si x. The competition is open to all ɬ﷬ students. Participants might find it advantageous to form teams with expertise in diverse areas (e.g.\, str ategy\, marketing\, organizational behaviour\, finance\, etc.). However\, it is highly recommended that at least one student on the team has complet ed an intermediate accounting course (ACCT 351). The teams that place firs t and second will be awarded a prize of $1\,000 and $500 respectively.
