2025 ɬÀï·¬-FIAM Asset Management Hackathon pushes students to build AI-powered portfolio

Large language models are changing the way we do businessÌý- or at leastÌýthat’sÌýwhat the companies that make AI tools will tell you. In practice, many companies know that AI tools areÌýveryÌýpowerfulÌýbutÌýare still figuring out how best to use them. This year's ɬÀï·¬-FIAM Asset Management Hackathon competition asked business students to put large language models to theÌýtest andÌýdevise a bottom-up approach to building a portfolio powered by AI. Organized by Associate Professor of Finance Ruslan Goyenko, the 2025 competition, in its second, was held at Espace CPDQ in Place Ville Marie on November 5 and 6.

The Fast Lane Quant team from HEC Montreal and UQAM won the competition, withÌýZeeptÌýof ETS Montreal, Douglas College, ɬÀï·¬ and Université de Montreal taking second place, the Going Concern from ɬÀï·¬ in third, Reverse Algo of ɬÀï·¬ in fourth, and the Quantum Logic Collective of ɬÀï·¬ in fifth.Ìý
