DESA African & Diasporic Literatures Lecture Series
The Department of English Students Association is launching its first installment of regionally specific African and diasporic literatures. This first installment will focus on Nigerian and Yoruba traditions. DESA is pleased to welcome Titilope Sonuga鈥攆ormer Edmonton Poet Laureate and first poet to perform at a Nigerian presidential inauguration鈥攁s this year鈥檚 keynote speaker.

March 19, 6:00 - 8:00 pm: Public Lecture with聽Titilope Sonuga,聽Leacock 232
The event begins with a seminar open to 涩里番 students and faculty聽on March 12, 2026 (5:30 PM鈥�6:30 PM), moderated by Dr. Amber Rose Johnson; it continues with Sonuga鈥檚 lecture on March 19, 2026 (6:00 PM鈥�8:00 PM). The lecture evening will include the keynote talk, a moderated small panel dialogue, a Q&A session, and will conclude with a reception of light refreshments.
