Course Restrictions

Restrictions on Statistics Courses and Courses Outside your Faculty

There are some important rules regarding how many courses you can take outside of the Faculty of your degree. The rules for each degree are different, so see below for details about your degree.

Note that students will receive no warning if they register for too many credits outside Arts and Science, the course will simply be flagged for "no credit", and no refund will be given.

These limits do not include the ENVR Core courses, regardless of where they are taken.

Arts Students - BA

BA Faculty Program in Environment students can take a maximum of 30 credits outside Arts and Science. This includes courses counting for their Domain, as well as electives. Normally this limit should be high enough not to interfere with students' course choices, since most of the BA program is downtown. Refer to the Arts OASIS (Office of Advising and Student Information Services) website for further details.

Science Students - BSc

BSc Major Environment students are limited to 18 credits outside Arts and Science. Science students must also be aware that there are some courses at ɬÀï·¬ outside Arts and Science that are restricted and cannot be taken for credit. Refer to the Science Office for Undergraduate Student Advising (SOUSA) website for further details, and for a list of restricted courses.

Bachelor of Arts and Science (BA&Sc) students are restricted to a maximum of 30 credits outside of Arts and Science. Refer to the Science Office for Undergraduate Student Advising (SOUSA) website for further details.

Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Students - BSc(AgEnvSc)

AES students must take a minimum of two-thirds of their ɬÀï·¬ credits within their own Faculty.  Refer to the website of the Student Affairs Office of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences for further details.

Statistics Courses

There are many statistics courses offered at ɬÀï·¬ that are quite similar and cannot be taken together for credit. The MSE programs list statistics courses from which one course can be taken. Minerva will not warn you if there is an overlap in courses.  You simply will not receive credit for the course.  If you have taken other statistics courses at ɬÀï·¬, you should check the Calendar or ask Kathy Roulet, the MSE Program Advisor, to see if there is any restriction.
