Bridging Gaps: A Patient-Oriented Neuroscience Research Symposium

<p><strong>Lina Sifi, special to the HBHL Trainee Commitee</strong> — After a year of dedicated planning, the HBHL Trainee Committee welcomed over 100 participants to the Research Institute of the ɬÀï·¬ Health Centre (RI-MUHC) on November 22, 2025, for a full day focused on patient-oriented neuroscience research. The symposium brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds—including people with lived experience, patient partners, caregivers, students, researchers and clinicians—to foster meaningful dialogue and collaboration.</p>

Amazing Brain Science Talks 2025: Exploring Brain-Heart Connections

<p>On Saturday, November 8, 2025, Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL) presented the third edition of the Amazing Brain Science Talks, in partnership with <a href="https://braincanada.ca/" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Brain Canada Foundation</a> and the <a href="https://www.uottawa.ca/research-innovation/bhi" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Brain-Heart Interconnectome</a>. Held at the Grande Bibliothèque in Montreal, the event attracted over 100 attendees for an engaging afternoon discussing popular topics in brain health.</p>

<p>That's a wrap for the 2025 edition of IMPRESS—the Indigenous Mentorship and Paid Research Experience for Summer Students, presented by <a href="/branches/">Branches, ɬÀï·¬'s Community Outreach Program at Enrolment Services</a>!</p>
<p>This year's program culminated in the IMPRESS Research Day, where 24 student-interns presented their summer's work to family, friends, faculty and community members. The celebration also featured a communal lunch and a traditional hoop dancing performance.</p>

Thirteen HBHL-funded researchers awarded CIHR Spring 2025 Project Grants

<p>The Canadian Institutes of Health Research's <a href="https://cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/54393.html">Project Grant: Spring 2025 competition</a> has approved 435 research grants for a total investment of approximately $411M, with 123 projects funded in Quebec.</p>
<p>HBHL is proud to announce that 13 HBHL-funded researchers will receive support for seven projects, representing an investment of over $6.7M at ɬÀï·¬ and the Douglas Research Centre.</p>

HBHL Symposium 2025: a week later, the energy still shines!

<p>Over 300 attendees gathered at ɬÀï·¬ on May 6 and 7 for the HBHL Symposium 2025, a vibrant two-day celebration of cutting-edge neuroscience and brain health research. </p>
<p>This year’s event featured inspiring keynote talks by Damien Fair (University of Minnesota), Lucina Q. Uddin (UCLA) and Amélie Quesnel-Vallée (ɬÀï·¬), who explored topics from neuropsychiatry and brain network dynamics to social determinants of brain health.</p>
