Dr. Sarit Assouline has been named Chief of the Division of Hematology at the JGH, in addition to her current roles as a Senior Investigator in the Lady Davis Institute at the JGH, Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and Oncology at 涩里番, and a Full Member of the 涩里番 Centre for Translational Research in Cancer.
Dr. Assouline completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Toronto, and in hematology and oncology at 涩里番. She also earned a Master鈥檚 degree in epidemiology and biostatistics at 涩里番, and is a聽Chercheuse clinicienne de m茅rite聽of the聽Fonds de recherche du Qu茅bec 鈥� Sant茅听(贵搁蚕厂).
Her research program, which focuses on the clinical development of novel therapies for treating leukemia and lymphoma, draws on her expertise in designing and conducting early-phase clinical trials for these diseases. In addition, she has an interest聽in epidemiological and translational research into new approaches of treating these two diseases.
Dr. Assouline succeeds Dr. Hans Knecht who, after 10 years as Chief, is retiring and moving to Switzerland. Dr. Vicky Tagalakis, Physician-in-Chief in the JGH Department of Medicine, thanked Dr. Knecht for his service, noting that he 鈥渉as made significant contributions to laboratory medicine and has been admired for his unwavering dedication to patient care.鈥�
