 ndill Prize Lecture in History\, presented by the acclaimed cultural histo
 rian and 2016 prize recipient\, Professor Thomas J. Laqueur from the Unive
 rsity of California - Berkeley.\n The lecture\, entitled 'Why We Have Care
 d for the Dead Body: From the Paleolithic to the Present and in Between'\,
  will highlight much of Professor Laqueur's research as presented in his a
 ward-winning book\, The Work of the Dead: A Cultural History of Mortal Rem
 ains. Drawing from a vast range of sources—from mortuary archaeology\, med
 ical tracts\, letters\, and art through the ages\, the book offers a compe
 lling and richly detailed account of how and why the living have cared for
  the dead\, from antiquity to the twentieth century.\n A cocktail receptio
 n will follow the lecture at the ɬ�﷬ Faculty Club.\n This ev
