In addition\, much of the discussion about the disaster on X (formerly Twitter) was driven by distan t observers. In response to being excluded and spoken for\, young people i n the community turned to grassroots participatory storytelling through th eatre and visual art to voice grievances and reimagine recovery narratives . At the first anniversary of Cyclone Idai\, a community-led theatre perfo rmance exposed issues such as the politicization and sexualization of aid\ , nepotism\, and local exclusion. These artistic interventions provided a means of reclaiming narrative space and highlighted local perspectives. Th is analysis\, demonstrates an alternative approach through which young peo ple contribute to post-disaster communication and recovery\, highlighting local perspectives that are frequently absent from official and digital ac counts of disasters.\n \n Light refreshments served.\n DTSTART:20251022T190000Z DTEND:20251022T210000Z LOCATION:Room 116\, Peterson Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0E6\, 3460 rue McTavish SUMMARY:IOWC Speaker Series: Everjoy Grace Chiimba URL:/history/channels/event/iowc-speaker-series-everjo y-grace-chiimba-368325 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
