Winter 2019 - New Student Orientation听
听
The New Student Orientation听for Winter 2019 will be held on Thursday January 10 2019, at 3:00 PM, in the de Grandpr茅听Communications Centre听at the Montreal Neurological Institute.
Please note that attendance is mandatory for听new students, as the first half of the event will feature informative talks from the Program Director, GSAN (Graduate Students Association of Neuroscience), BrainReach, Teaching & Learning Services (TLS), Library Resources, and Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD).听听
The second half of the event will consist of a social gathering in the Helen Penfield Atrium (just outside of the auditorium), during which students will get to meet and interact with their fellow colleagues and peers. Pizza will be served.

Registration:
Registration is done on 涩里番's user-friendly web system,听Minerva.
For Winter 2019, please note that you must register for the 'Registration Confirmation' course (REGN RCGR, CRN 2262), along with the other courses required by your program.
The regular registration period for Winter 2019 will be open until January 7 2019. Registrations completed after this date will be considered late and will entail a penalty fee. Late registration period听will run from January 8 to January 22, 2019.听

涩里番 Student ID Card:
Important information regarding the 涩里番 Student ID Card, such as how to obtain it, can be found here. Please note that you must be registered in order to obtain your 涩里番 ID card.
Stipends
In order to receive your stipends, it is imperative that you insert your听banking information on Minerva (Financial Aid/Awards>Financial Aid Menu>Direct Deposit Bank Account).
Deposits are made every second Thursday (2x/month).
Letters of Proof of Enrolment:
Such letters can be obtained and downloaded from your Minerva听account (Student>Student Records Menu> Letters - Proof of Enrolment). Please note that you must be registered in order to听obtain such letters.听

涩里番's CIC Unique Identifier
Citizenship and Immigration Canada has adopted a new way of identifying postsecondary institutions in Canada. CIC has assigned unique ID numbers to each institution. 涩里番鈥檚 new CIC unique identifier is O19359011033. Effective Saturday听June 14 2014, international students will need to include this number on their applications when applying for a new or renewed Canadian Study Permit.

Proof of Graduation:
Students are granted acceptance into our program听given the following condition: They听must successfully graduate and obtain their degree from their previous institution/program in order to continue with IPN. Proof of graduation is confirmed when their final transcript is marked with the following听note: "Degree Conferred."听
New Student F.A.Q
Do students have to TA a minimum number of hours in order to receive a stipend?
No. Stipends are guaranteed to all IPN students. If you TA, you will get an additional, separate salary.
Should I take all my courses in my first semester?
It is entirely up to you. However, it is highly recommended that you do not take more than one course at once, as you will also be devoting your time to work in the lab.
Should I get settled in to my lab during the first semester and wait to take courses during my second semester?
It is entirely up to you. However, since courses take up 3h of your time during the week, going to lectures is a great way to spend some time outside of the lab. Furthermore, classrooms are a great place to meet fellow IPN peers.
