InterZone firewall upgrade: Saturday, March 14

IT Services will be upgrading ɬ�﷬’s InterZone firewall on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

This change should not impact access to Internet or any ɬ�﷬ Data Center services. Users may experience a brief interruption when accessing some ɬ�﷬ systems that are not hosted in the ɬ�﷬ Data Center.

This upgrade is part of an ongoing project to replace firewalls that are end of support, providing users with better and more secure access to ɬ�﷬ applications and systems.

SharePoint "Alert me" is going away

Microsoft is currently retiring SharePoint's “alert me”, which will disappear from ɬ�﷬’s SharePoint sometime between January and July 2026. ɬ�﷬ has no control over the exact moment when the feature will be removed within that timeframe.

We are currently investigating a system-wide issue affecting Lenel building access for some students and postdoctoral fellows. Impacted individuals may find their building access is unexpectedly not working. This appears to be an access issue (not a card replacement issue).

As part of Microsoft’s latest Teams update, the Files tab (in channels and chats) is being renamed Shared. This change is being gradually rolled out. Some ɬ�﷬ users will see this change before others. For a little while, you may see both Files and Shared tabs across your Teams.

That tab is being renamed Shared, and it will bring together:

Changes to IT Services equipment loans – What you need to know.

ɬ�﷬’s IT Services equipment loans will be reduced to better reflect current needs and available resources. Starting August 18, 2025, only a limited selection of commonly borrowed equipment will remain available: laptops and wireless microphones.

This initiative supports efforts to optimize resources and modernize services in line with Horizon ɬ�﷬.

During this transition, equipment pick up will continue to be available by appointment.

Update concerning Workday and data security

Workday has informed us of a phishing campaign that targeted many large organizations, including Workday. This led to unauthorized access to one of their third-party platforms, Workday’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. There is no indication that ɬ�﷬ employees’ personal information and HR related information stored in ɬ�﷬'s Workday system were accessed during this incident.

Nevertheless, we are doing our due diligence to investigate, and we are taking all necessary precautions to safeguard our systems and information.
