A quick revisit of Aristotle’s Rhetori c explores the potential divides between speaker and audience\, especially challenging when passions intervene. Pathos\, through the strategic use o f psycho-physical means and the interpersonal realm of language\, seems to attune these two sides. In Bolaño’s writing\, global pathos gestures towa rd the pathos of the global\, of distance and its malleability. The litera ry genre that expresses the multiple contradictions and tensions of world- making processes struggles to compensate for the increasing anonymity of i ts readership. Telepathy\, in turn\, imagines the broadcasting of pathos i n the light of the developing techno-telecommunications in the early 20th century. In a nutshell: it is not “pity” that is being transferred in tele pathy. It is rather that contents can be smuggled using the same conduits\ , now loosely detached from the rhetoric of compassion. In this talk\, I e xamine the variety of reasons for which Bolaño’s treatment of telepathy is noteworthy. I ponder the early stages of his writing career when Bolaño t ook a “Spanish” or European detour into Gothic themes (telepathy being one of them). A few decades later\, Samanta Schweblin\, for instance\, could— which does not mean that she should—just as easily be inspired by Silvina Ocampo\, Horacio Quiroga\, Julio Cortázar\, Amparo Dávila or Roberto Bolañ o to prefer telepathy as a narrative strategy creating and recreating the environmental novel with planetary\, regional\, national\, and intimate ch ambers of resonance.\n\nVoix épuisées\, corps épuisés : la migrance et les arts visuels brésiliens\n\nL'immigration n'est pas une thémathique nouvel le dans l'historiographie et la production artistique au Brésil. Depuis la première moitié du XIXème siècle\, elle a su s'adapter aux principales tr ansformations socio économiques et culturelles du pays intégrant un récit identitaire commun autour d'une supposée fraternité nationale. Or\, la cri se actuelle de la migrance tend à mettre en échec cette dynamique. En suiv ant la pensée des philosophes français Gilles Deleuze et David Lapoujade\, cette communication vise à interroger la présence du corps migrant épuisé dans la production artistique brésilienne depuis le modernisme. Nous verr ons comment les oeuvres de Lasar Segall\, de Regina Parra et de Maurício L ima refusent un regard fataliste sur la condition migrante\, tout en se co ncentrant sur les causes qui produisent la souffrance sociale. Dans le tra vail de ces artistes\, nous observons la présence d'un regard qui invoque la coresponsabilité sociale comme dispositif pour inhiber l'indifférence d u spectateur face à la misère du monde. L'énonciation visuelle refuse ici la représentation factuelle d'une situation (des personnes en souffrance) afin de neutraliser toute émotion asymétrique\, moralement acceptable\, ma is politiquement perverse\, telle que la pitié.
