Professor Aaron Mills' two-week Anishinaabe Law Circle Learning course last summer challenged everything I thought I knew about law, starting with the most fundamental question: what is law? Together we grappled with legal authority deriving from the Crown versus the Creator; kinship versus citizenship; knowledge versus belief; stories versus statutes; sovereignty versus self-governance; and persuasion versus coercion in achieving remedies and resolution.

L.E.X. (short for Law – Éducation – Connection) is an outreach program created in 2006 in response to Quebec’s alarming high school dropout rates.

La Faculté de droit exprime sa profonde tristesse face au décès de l’honorable Ken Dryden, CP, OC, LLB’73, LLD’18, un membre éminent de notre communauté diplômé, apprécié de tous.

Étudiant en droit et joueur professionnel de la LNH dans les années 1970, Ken Dryden a tracé sa propre voie, soulevant pour notre doyen de l’époque, feu John W. Durnford, une question épineuse devenue célèbre : « Quels accommodements peut-on offrir à un étudiant qui participe à finale de la Coupe Stanley pendant les examens finaux de droit ? »

Pendant ses études à la Faculté de droit de l’Université ɬ�﷬, Anaïs Lacroix, BCL/JD’11, aurait été la première surprise d’apprendre qu’elle se lancerait en affaires à 32 ans et qu’elle dirigerait un cabinet de 50 employés actuellement en plein essor.
