The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Michelle Cumyn has received the 2026 John W. Durnford Award for Teaching Excellence.

Named in honour of the late professor and former dean John W. Durnford (BCL'52), and conferred by students, this annual award recognizes a law professor’s exceptional pedagogy.

The Faculty of Law was again ranked among the world’s top universities at which to study law by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject in Law and Legal Studies placed ɬ�﷬ Law 30th worldwide.

Since QS introduced the ranking in 2011, the Faculty of Law has consistently placed in the top 50 institutions globally. The QS ranking is based on academic reputation, employer reputation, H-index citations, and citations per paper.

Tina Piper appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Tina Piper as Dean of the Faculty of Law at ɬ�﷬. Her five-year term will begin on April 1, 2026.

Professor Piper has been serving as Interim Dean of Law since winter 2025. In this important transitional role, she has led ɬ�﷬ Law with warmth, intellectual rigour, and a focus on cultivating both academic excellence and a strong sense of community.
