Even determining whether ration al points exist is difficult. Proving the existence of rational points bec omes considerably easier when the Hasse Principle is known to hold. In thi s talk\, we will discuss violations of the Hasse Principle within families of twists of superelliptic curves and\, conditional on the abc conjecture \, give simple criteria for determining when the Hasse Principle will hold within such families. Based in part on joint work with Pete L. Clark. \n \n \n\nFor Zoom details\, please contact: martinez [at] crm.umontreal.ca\n DTSTART:20220324T173000Z DTEND:20220324T183000Z SUMMARY:Lori Watson (Wake Forest University) URL:/mathstat/channels/event/lori-watson-wake-forest-u niversity-338544 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
