This is not a p recise question and the answer depends on whether we are considering these surfaces as topological spaces\, differentiable\, complex\, or algebraic manifolds. It also depends on whether we mean an open version or a compact one. In this talk I will start by reviewing some of these possibilities a nd then discuss the case of projective complex manifolds. This will lead u s to see some of the difficulties that come up in the classification of hi gher dimensional algebraic manifolds. Time permitting I will also discuss how some of these issues are resolved and how they lead to new challenges. \n\n  \n \n \n \n \n Lien ZOOM Link\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n\n \n DTSTART:20250307T203000Z DTEND:20250307T213000Z SUMMARY:Sándor Kovács (University of Washington) URL:/mathstat/channels/event/sandor-kovacs-university- washington-363978 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
