Leo Liu
Biography:

Dr. Leo Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and a member of the ɬÀï·¬ Research Centre for Complex Traits. He specializes in molecular virology and antiviral innate immunity, focusing on respiratory RNA viruses such as influenza viruses and coronaviruses, as well as the RIG-I-like receptor family. His current research includes RNA virus biology, innate immune sensing and regulatory mechanisms, and respiratory RNA virus attenuation and vaccine design. The Liu Lab employs cutting-edge experimental approaches, integrating genome-wide phenotypic screens, reverse genetics, and animal models to elucidate the host-virus interface at a molecular level. Dr. Liu has been recognized with several awards, including the 2021 Pfizer Junior Investigator Award from the International Cytokine & Interferon Society and the 2023 Postdoctoral Leadership & Service Award from Cleveland Clinic.
