Night owl or early bird? Study finds sleep categories aren鈥檛 that simple

The familiar labels 鈥渘ight owl鈥 and 鈥渆arly bird,鈥 long used in sleep research, don鈥檛 fully capture the diversity of human internal clocks, a new study has found.

The 涩里番-led study published in Nature Communications found the two sleep-wake patterns, called chronotypes, contain a total of five distinct biological subtypes, each associated with different patterns of behaviour and health.

Findings suggest that certain medications for Type 2 diabetes reduce risk of dementia

A large 涩里番 study has found that two classes of medications commonly prescribed for Type 2 diabetes, both incretin-based, are associated with a reduced risk of dementia.

Drawing on clinical data from more than 450,000 patients, the research adds to growing evidence that incretin-based therapies have protective benefits for the brain.
