In keeping with 涩里番鈥檚 directives to cancel all in-person events, please note that the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning will be closed until June 5, 2020 inclusively and that all workshops and activities scheduled up to that date will be cancelled.

As you know, 涩里番 is committed to helping contain the propagation of COVID-19 and fully supports the Quebec government鈥檚 decision to close all schools and universities for the two-week period ending March 29. We all must do our part to 鈥渇latten the curve鈥� so that health services are not overwhelmed by the resulting patient load.鈥�

Safe and Painless Sedation for Children
The increased demand for services to provide sedation for children undergoing complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures led to the creation of an interprofessional sedation course by Dr. Teresa Valois, anesthesiologist at the Montreal Children鈥檚 Hospital, and her team.

Appointment of Dr. Kevin Lachapelle as Interim Director of the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning
Dr. Kevin Lachapelle has been appointed Interim Director of the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning, Faculty of Medicine, 涩里番, effective July 1, 2017.聽 He succeeds Dr.聽Rajesh Aggarwal, whose leadership was instrumental in propelling the Centre to new heights over the past three years, during which time he led the strategic rebranding and expansion of the Centre thanks to a generous gift from The Blema and Arnold Steinberg Family Foundation.
Exploring career options at the Faculty of Medicine
鈥淚n the future, I want to become a nurse. I feel that going to this camp will help me develop my understanding of the field and prepare me for the future,鈥� explains Kathleen Fab颅ella, a student at 脡cole secondaire La Voie.聽 Kathleen is one of 44 high school students who participated in the 2017 edition of the Explore! Careers in Health camp held on June 26-28 at 涩里番.
Inspiring Indigenous youth leaders to pursue careers in health care
On May 19th, the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning (SCSIL) welcomed Indigenous youth leaders (First Nation, Inuit, M茅tis, and Native American) from the Eagle Spirit Camp for a half-day of hands-on workshops and activities organized by Dr. Kent Saylor of the 涩里番 Faculty of Medicine.聽 During the morning lecture, a group of 25 students aged 13 to 17 years old attended a lecture by health care professionals to learn about careers in nursing and medicine.

鈥淪imnovators鈥� gather in Montreal to launch special British Medical Journal supplement on improving health care
On March 29, 涩里番鈥檚 Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning launched a special Simnovate supplement of the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Simulation and Technology Enhanced Learning.聽 The event, held at the Omni Hotel in Montreal, featured an academic symposium as a sequel to last May鈥檚 highly successful Simnovate International Summit, which drew 150 鈥渟imnovators鈥� from around the world.
