DESCRIPTION:SPECIAL STUDENT EVENT\n\nThe application of virtual reality (VR
 ) in health professions education\, both for teaching technical skills and
  for broader clinical decision-making\, has been a topic of discussion. A 
 less known but emerging area of interest is the use of VR as a medium to w
 itness\, or be in the first-person perspective of\, a social challenge thr
 ough immersive storytelling.\n\nAlthough the use of VR in cognitive and be
 havioural sciences has been active for decades\, increased mainstream atte
 ntion is now arising on whether VR can raise awareness and improve educati
 on on social issues in health professions education.\n\nThe Steinberg Cent
 re for Simulation and Interactive Learning (SCSIL) is inviting interested 
 ɬÀï·¬ Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) students to register
  to view curated VR experiences centered on such issues as racism\, Indige
 nous health\, and homelessness\, to name a few.\n\nYou will then be invite
 d to provide a brief audio message with your feedback on: 1) your general 
 impressions on the experiences viewed\, and 2) whether you believe this ma
 y contribute to health professions education.\n\nThis special event entitl
 ed Simulation on a Social Mission Virtual Reality Festival will take place
  the week of June 12 (see dates and times below).\n	\n	Interested participan
 ts can self-register for a one-hour timeslot on the dates below using this
  VR Booking Page.  \n\nThere are 60 spots available. Priority will be give
 n on a first come\, first served basis.\n\n \n\nTimeslots\n\n\n	Monday\, Ju
 ne 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.\n	Tuesday\, June 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.\n	Thur
 sday\, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.\n\n\n\n	You will have the opportunity
  to view up to two (2) VR experiences of your choosing among the list belo
