 in brain surgery and neuroscience\, Dr. Leblanc will explore the early day
 s of The Neuro\, its transformative role in the treatment of epilepsy\, an
 d Penfield’s legacy that continues to shape modern neuroscience.  \n\nThe 
 historic lecture will be introduced by Jo Anne Stratton\, PhD\, researcher
  and co-chair of the TOSI Open Science Grassroots committee at The Neuro. 
  Professor Stratton will offer a glimpse into The Neuro’s current cutting-
 edge research\, highlighting advancements in single-cell biology and The N
 euro’s commitment to Open Science. Professor Stratton’s research on glial 
 cells—often referred to as the 'supporting cast' of the nervous system\, l
 ooks at the the key role these cells play in in understanding brain functi
 on and disease.   \n\nThis event is a unique chance to explore the rich hi
 story of The Neuro\, its profound contributions to science\, and the groun
 dbreaking work that continues today.  Join us in celebrating The Neuro at 
 90 – Every Brain Matters. \n\n\nAbout Richard Leblanc: Dr. Richard Leblanc
  is a neurosurgeon and former director of the Brain Tumour Program at The 
 Neuro\, where he specialized in brain tumour genetics and advanced imaging
  techniques for tumour treatment. He was a pioneer in the use of magnetic 
 resonance spectroscopy to guide treatment for gliomas and led key clinical
  trials in gene therapy and the combination of Temozolomide with radiother
 apy for glioblastoma\, a treatment now considered standard. \n\nDr. Leblan
 c serves as The Neuro’s historian\, having written extensively about the l
 egacy of Dr. Wilder Penfield\, founder of The Neuro. In addition to co-aut
 horing The Wounded Brain Healed\, a detailed history of The Neuro's first 
 50 years\, Dr. Leblanc has also authored other books including a second bo
 ok\, Radical Treatment: Wilder Penfield’s Life in Neuroscience\, which exp
 lores Penfield’s pioneering work in brain surgery\, particularly his revol
 utionary techniques in the treatment of epilepsy\, and his lasting influen
 ce on neuroscience and medical education worldwide.  \n
