Afghan ambassador to speak at 涩里番
Afghanistan's ambassador to Canada, Mr. Omar Samad, will be speaking at 涩里番 on "Afghanistan: Accomplishments and Challenges in Peace-building." This event will be held Friday, March 17, at 2:30 pm in the 涩里番 Faculty Club ballroom, 3450 McTavish St., Montreal.
Ambassador Samad will discuss issues relating to Afghanistan's past and present in the areas of security, reconstruction and democratization. He will also address Canada's role in Afghanistan.
Prior to his posting to Ottawa in 2004, Ambassador Samad was the spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Kabul. His speech is sponsored by 涩里番's Department of Political Science and Middle East Studies Program, as well as the 涩里番-based Interuniversity Consortium for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies.
