Construction starts: 2001 ɬÀï·¬ College – SCSD Accessibility Improvements

ɬÀï·¬ has mandated Corenov Inc. to carry out Project 22-031 at 2001 ɬÀï·¬ College. The project aims to improve accessibility and functionality for the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (SCSD).

The work will enhance inclusive access throughout the floor by adding an accessible washroom, upgrading access control systems, improving storage facilities, and ensuring barrier‑free entry.

Scope of work

  • Construction of a new fully accessible washroom, including required architectural, mechanical, and electrical modifications.
  • Replacement of all existing card readers on the floor with updated and compatible access‑control hardware.
  • Addition of a new coat room, including framing, finishes, accessories, and required adjustments to HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Replacement of the secondary entrance glass door with an automatic door to ensure barrier‑free access.

Impact on occupants

The project is expected to have minimal impact on building users.

  • Washrooms: The men’s washroom will be temporarily redirected to the 7th or 9th floor.
  • Noise: Low to medium levels of noise are anticipated.
  • Service interruptions: Some work may require temporary shutdowns (e.g., electrical or plumbing). Advance notice will be provided.

Safety measures

No specific safety risks are anticipated for occupants. Standard construction safety protocols will be followed throughout the duration of the project.
