Professor Anthony Masi named 涩里番 provost

Leading labour market analyst, sociology professor and senior administrator

Professor Heather Munroe-Blum, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of 涩里番, is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Anthony C. Masi as Provost of 涩里番, effective December 13, 2005.

"In his role as Provost, Professor Masi will be central to achieving 涩里番's highest academic ambitions and priorities," said Munroe-Blum. "He brings to this position deep intelligence, a very well-developed vision for the future based on academic excellence and international leadership, coupled with sound administrative and management practices. He has had over two decades of experience within the University and has achieved high scholarly distinction, recognized nationally and internationally. I am delighted to have him confirmed in this senior leadership role."

In addition to his scholarly achievements, Professor Masi has been responsible for a series of impressive administrative innovations. These resulted during his service as Interim Provost from March 2005, as Deputy Provost and Chief Information Officer since 2003, and previously as Vice-Principal (Information Systems and Technology) from 2001 to 2003. He has also served in a variety of leadership roles in the administration at the departmental, faculty and university levels since his arrival at 涩里番 in 1979 as an assistant professor of sociology (Faculty of Arts).

"Our faculty and staff are key to the success of the University. With better support they will be equipped to further our top quality research and teaching, and the learning and research experiences for our students."
