Kelley Kilpatrick receives Recognition Award from Quebec Nurse Practitioner Association

Professor Kilpatrick's rigorous scientific research has consistently demonstrated that the complete integration of NPs leads to improved clinical care and patient outcomes.

Professor Kelley Kilpatrick, RN, PhD, was awarded the prestigious Prix Reconnaissance by the Association des infirmières praticiennes spécialisées du Québec (AIPSQ) during their annual conference on April 16, 2026. This award is presented to individuals whose contributions to the nurse practitioner (NP) specialty, and by extension, the nursing profession, are deemed truly remarkable. Holder of theÌýSusan E. French Chair in Nursing Research & Innovative Practice at the Ingram School of Nursing, Professor Kilpatrick was recognized for embodying excellence, leadership, and a strong and persistent commitment to advancing healthcare for the benefit of patients and the broader healthcare system.

For over 15 years, Professor Kilpatrick’s work has focused on the essential conditions that allow NPs to exercise their role fully. Her rigorous scientific research has been instrumental in demonstrating that the complete integration of NPs leads to improved clinical care and patient outcomes, increased accessibility to health services, and enhanced quality care and patient experience. Her internationally recognized publications have helped define the NP role and document the added value NPs bring to interprofessional teams and healthcare organizations.

To mark this achievement, Prof. Kilpatrick was presented with a unique blown-glass trophy crafted by a Quebec artisan. The piece was specifically chosen to symbolize her career: its transparency reflects the clarity of her vision, its solidity mirrors the rigour of her engagement, and its strong lines represent the momentum she has provided to the profession. As the AIPSQ noted during the ceremony, Professor Kilpatrick has provided the profession with a vital lever: solid scientific credibility that has influenced strategic orientations and paved the way for better NP integration across the health network.
