Last fall, Sylvie Lambert, RN, PhD, was honoured with the Prix de cancérologie du Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) for her outstanding contributions to cancer care research and patient-centred interventions. A Canada Research Chair (Tier 2), Associate Professor, and Associate Director – Research at the Ingram School of Nursing, Lambert is a principal researcher at St. Mary’s Hospital Research Centre. Her research continues to advance supportive care and timely symptom management while improving the experience and quality of life of people living with cancer.

Professor Lambert’s research efforts were recognized once again in 2026, when she and her research team were honoured at a gala hosted by the CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, receiving a Luminas Award in the “Tailored Services” category for their Patient Experience Survey project at St. Mary’s Hospital Centre. This large-scale initiative – a first of its kind for the CIUSSS - combined standardized surveys with modules adapted to different departments, available on an electronic platform, providing cancer patients and their caregivers with an easy way to share their experiences. Through collaboration with the CIUSS quality improvement team, survey data was used to help the healthcare team to better align their service offerings with patient and caregiver needs.

On May 7, 2026, Professor Lambert was an invited guest at ɬ﷬’s Bravo Gala, joining more 100 distinguished ɬ﷬ researchers honoured with provincial, national and international research prizes and awards in 2025.

Capping off an exceptional year, Professor Lambert was selected as the recipient of the awarded jointly by the Canadian Centre for Applied Research in Cancer Control (ARCC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institute of Cancer Research. Among a highly competitive field of candidates, Professor Lambert was chosen for her outstanding work in the self-management of the physical and psychosocial impacts of cancer; her long-term participation in the ARCC network and multiple collaborations with other national/international organizations and networks; and her commitment to capacity building and patient/caregiver/public engagement. "An ARCC network member since 2013, Dr. Lambert has developed a highly impactful research program focused on improving outcomes for people living with cancer and their caregivers as care increasingly shifts to ambulatory and home settings. Her work has advanced innovative psychosocial and digital self-management interventions, including the Coping-Together and TEMPO programs, while also leading large-scale implementation initiatives integrating patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) into oncology care across Quebec."

Reflecting on the evolution of her research program, Professor Lambert said, “My overarching goal is to ensure that evidence-based self-management and patient reported outcome measures are integrated into everyday cancer care so that no patient or caregiver is left without the support they need.”
