Sylvie Lambert receives multiple honours for research that places the patient experience at the heart of care

Last fall, Sylvie Lambert, RN, PhD, was honoured with the Prix de cancérologie du Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux (MSSS) for her outstanding contributions to cancer care research and patient-centred interventions. A Canada Research Chair (Tier 2), Associate Professor, and Associate Director – Research at the Ingram School of Nursing, Lambert is a principal researcher at St. Mary’s Hospital Research Centre. Her research continues to advance supportive care and timely symptom management while improving the experience and quality of life of people living with cancer.

At a reception honouring the winners of alumni, in-course and convocation prizes held at the Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN) on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, students traded in their uniforms for formal attire, basking in the applause of their peers, family members, and nursing faculty. The award-winning students were selected for demonstrating exceptional leadership, engagement, and compassion as well as academic and clinical excellence.

Alex Bilodeau wins Scarlet Key Award

As President of the Nursing Undergraduate Society (NUS), Alex Bilodeau has spent the past academic year working with a dedicated team on various initiatives to improve the experience and meet the needs of undergraduate students at the Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN). He had never heard of the Scarlet Key Award – until his peers convinced him that he was an eminently worthy candidate and encouraged him to apply.

Since 2014, she has introduced highly successful initiatives such as the Nursing Peer Mentorship Program and the ɬ�﷬ Nursing Fellows Program, which foster professional guidance, promote interprofessional collaboration, ease workforce transition, and enhance nursing integration and retention.

Indigenous Nurses Day 2026: Inspiration, impact, community

This year’s celebration of Indigenous Nurses Day, held on April 9, was organized jointly by the Ingram School of Nursing’s Office for Social Accountability in Nursing (OSAN) and the Golden Age Club in Kahnawà:ke. The Club served as a gracious host to ɬ�﷬ faculty and students as well as working and retired Indigenous nurses in attendance. As noted by Josée Lavallée (Red River Métis), RN, OSAN Director, “It was an honour to be invited to Kahnawà:ke for the event. It was important to go to community as the event is really is about celebrating Indigenous nurses.”

Creating superuser toolkit a super experience for master’s students

As the academic year came to a close, master’s students presented their Knowledge Translation (KT) and research projects at two separate Graduate Student Symposiums attended by their peers, nursing faculty, and clinical and research supervisors. “The calibre of the presentations was outstanding,” noted Lynne McVey, Director Ingram School of Nursing.
