Your First 10 Steps to Succeed as a New B.A. Student

  1. Read the .

It is a step-by-step checklist that you will want to review before arriving and during your first year of studies. It includes information such as where to send your final grades and legal documents, obtaining your study permit, securing housing, getting your ID card, etc.

  1. Plan your first-year course selection (and factor in any advanced standing/transfer credit you may receive).

Assess if you are in U0 or U1. If you are in U0 consult the Foundation Program requirements, review the Foundation Program Course Selection and use the Approved Foundation Courses list to select your courses. If you are in U1 refer to the Program selection page and the Course selection page for U1. You will need to plan your course selection for the coming year (this includes the Fall and Winter terms).

  1. Attend Virtual Pre-Registration info sessions in June

  2. Attend the Arts Department Virtual Fair

  3. Register for your Fall and Winter term courses (on Minerva)

Check the When to register website for dates. See "Registration Tips" for Minerva guidance, help, and common issues. Register for at least one course by August 14 to avoid late fees!

Once you have registered for your Fall and Winter courses, login to Minerva and consult your Unofficial Transcript (Minerva > Student Menu > Student Records Menu > View Your Unofficial Transcript) to ensure there are no errors.

  1. Connect with an Adviser.

Summer is ideal for meeting with an adviser, ensuring proper registration, and consulting with Program advisers.

  1. Attend Discover ɬÀï·¬ and Welcome Week activities

It will be your chance to attend Faculty Orientation, learn about ɬÀï·¬'s services, clubs, teams, organizations, and faculty association.

  1. Make sure the first day of class is on your calendar!

  2. Add/Drop Period

You can adjust your course registration without penalty until the end of the add/drop Period. Check syllabi before add/drop ends to plan your semester.
