Dr. Carolyn Baglole Awarded Sustaining Excellence Grant

Congratulations to Dr. Carolyn Baglole, who received a Sustaining Excellence Grant for her research project, "Vaping-induced impairment of innate defense mechanisms underlies lung disease pathogenesis."

The Sustaining Excellence Grants Program provides one year of funding to MUHC Research Institute researchers who ranked within the top 40% of CIHR Project Grant applicants but did not receive funding. Supported by the River Philip and Trottier Family Foundations, the Sustaining Excellence Grant allows outstanding researchers to maintain the momentum of their research programs.

Dr. Baglole's research project aims to understand if and how vaping impacts lung defense mechanisms that lead to lung damage, affect breathing, or impact the ability to respond to agents that cause lung infections. This important research will contribute knowledge to help protect lung health in the years to come.
