The basic unit of chromatin is the nucleosome\, which is formed by DNA wrapping around a histone octamer. Histones not onl y constitute the structural backbone of chromatin but also provide ample o pportunity for regulating  gene expression. They undergo a host  of posttr anslational modifications\, which are thought to impact transcription eith er by directly modulating chromatin structure or by recruiting effector pr oteins. The overarching goal of research in our lab is to determine the me chanistic intricacies of histone modifications. Moreover\, we aim to under stand how different systems of chromatin modifiers interact to regulate an d fine-tune gene expression.\n DTSTART:20170802T160000Z DTEND:20170802T170000Z LOCATION:CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3G 1Y6\, ɬ﷬\, 3655 Sir Willia m Osler SUMMARY:Dr. Philipp Voigt\, Assistant Professor Welcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology (WTCOB) URL:/pharma/channels/event/dr-philipp-voigt-assistant- professor-welcome-trust-centre-cell-biology-wtcob-268887 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
