鈥淲e did spatial memory tests and found that degradation was correlated to GPS frequency,鈥� said V茅ronique Bohbot, a scientist at the Douglas Research Centre and a professor of psychiatry at 涩里番. 鈥淭here was a difference between people who use GPS every day for every trip and the people who didn鈥檛 use GPS at all or just occasionally, say, once a month.鈥�

Rob Whitley, an associate professor in 涩里番鈥檚 department of psychiatry, was at a conference in Brussels a few years ago when the subject came up in a talk about the social aspects of DNA testing given by Belgian biologist and geneticist Maarten Larmuseau. 鈥淎nd I was thinking, 鈥楾his will have huge mental-health impacts,'鈥� recalled Whitley, a research scientist at the Douglas Research Centre.
