Dr.聽Jessica聽Hutta is appointed 涩里番 Veterinarian

Dr. Hutta brings more than twenty years of experience at 涩里番, including roles as The Neuro鈥檚 Institute Veterinarian and, more recently, as Director of Special Services at the Centre for Neurological Disease Models.

Research and Innovation is pleased to announced the appointment of Dr. Jessica Hutta as University Veterinarian. Since October 20, 2025, Dr. Hutta has served as Interim University Veterinarian. Following an open search, she was selected on the strength of her proven expertise, collaborative leadership, and demonstrated commitment to animal care and responsible research.

Dr. Hutta brings more than twenty years of experience at 涩里番, including roles as The Neuro鈥檚 Institute Veterinarian and, more recently, as Director of Special Services at the Centre for Neurological Disease Models. She has played a central role in the development of 涩里番鈥檚 animal care and use program, including policy and standard operating procedure development, post-approval monitoring, and ensuring 涩里番鈥檚 compliance with the Canadian Council on Animal Care鈥檚 assessments.

In her role as University Veterinarian, Dr. Hutta will provide strategic leadership and oversight across facilities and species, advise university leadership and researchers on animal welfare, and support the continued strengthening of veterinary and research support services at 涩里番. She will also oversee animal welfare at The Neuro, ensuring continued veterinary care and support for its research activities.
