Myriam Denov, a leading advocate for children’s rights and a Professor in ɬ�﷬’s School of Social Work, has won a Gold Medal from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), its highest honour.

The award is for sustained leadership, dedication and originality of thought that have inspired students and colleagues; it comes with a $100,000 prize for future research.

Christian Genest receives the 2025 Acfas Urgel-Archambault Prize

Christian Genest, Distinguished James ɬ�﷬ Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, is the 2025 recipient of the Acfas Urgel-Archambault Prize. The award, sponsored by the Quebec government, is presented annually to a researcher in the field of physical sciences, mathematics, computer science or engineering.

Genest specializes in statistics. Through his career, he has repeatedly demonstrated how methodological breakthroughs can have important societal impacts.

These grants will be matched by the Quebec government, doubling their value.
